When you hear a candy described as "fierce," you just have to try it.

That's how candy maker Clara Nipper's toffee was described to us, so we couldn't wait to have a bite. It was truly fierce.

And it turns out Nipper has other candies, all under the Andy's Candies label, that are just as good. Her chocolate creams, which she calls Noir X, will make a chocolate lover swoon.

Everything is made by hand with minimal ingredients. The chocolate creams have four ingredients: chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, butter and cream. The same goes for her tiger toffee, which is made with chocolate, sugar, butter and vanilla.

Other candies include coffee toffee, truffles, peppermint bark and peanut brittle. Nipper sells her candy by the bag or in hatbox gift baskets.

Andy's Candies are available by the bag at Lambrusco'z, 1344 E. 41st St. You can call ahead for availability at 496-1246. For deliveries or to order a gift basket, call Nipper at 728-8295 or e-mail clara@andyscandies.org
